Getting ready to leave...

28 april 2019 - Kent, Washington, Verenigde Staten

Jetlag, what is jetlag? Never had that much issues with it. Just gone straight back to work the next day. And you're back in sync again. Well this time was a bit different. What a days have we had the last nights. And what did we sleep during the last days. Our internal clock is still not there jet. But naptime seems to hit us an hour later every day. We will get there.

We would have to return the RV on the 29th before 10:30. And since we have had 2 really busy days with a lot of fun and a lot of new friends we decided that the 28th would be a day of chillaxing, packing our suitcases and ready the waggie for the return drop off the next day. And that was just what it would be. We did not rush getting up, and really did not want to get up. Packing our suitcases was a sure sign of having to go home. And we still wanted a lot of things, but going home was not one of them. When we did manage to get out of bed we started with just a coffee and a tea. Opened the blinds to what has been our home sweet home on wheels for the last 28 days, knowing we only had to do that once more the next day. We drank our coffee and tea, as we knew we would only do once more the next day. All of a sudden everything had "a last time". We slowly get dressed and slowly started to sort through all our stuff which in the last weeks all gotten its own place in either a cupboard, drawer, cabinet or dashboard. And wow, we did collect of stuff. Let's start with the clothing. So I went outside to get our suitcases out of the external storage compartment. Where I found a 24 pack of cans Mountain Dew. I remembered Suus asking me, "do we still got something to drink?" I think you all can guess my answer to that question. Also I made a note for myself for our next road trip. "Off-road with an RV does effect your storage compartments". There was a lot of sand that somehow found its way into the compartment. I was glad I zipped up the suitcases, and only had to clean the outside. I brushes off the suitcases and took them in. The whole exercise off packing our suitcases was a pretty quick one. Since we both had only one. We packed the 2 we brought with us coming to the US. Ok ok, I did had to push and squeeze to get the zipper to go round, but they were both the allowed 23 kg. Perfect I thought, just as it should be and not too heavy. We only missed 1 thing......not a showstopper....we just missed 1 extra suitcase. Looking around the waggie there was no other conclusion then that we did need an extra suitcase. We had bought souvenirs, remember our real American sweatpants? Bought during one of our first Walmart visits. Not expensive, but we wanted to take them home. Yes, you can give a sentimental value to sweatpants. We had bought hoodies at Harley Davidson, Palmers, Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone. 4 of them fill half a suitcase. And a lot of other small things of which when you buy them you think, ahhh, such a small thingy, it will fit. Well....when you think this 100x it does no longer fit. And since we had to go and do groceries as well, we rolled in the slide outs and went to buy groceries. And the extra suitcase. We only needed a small one. One we could take with us as carry-on luggage. We drove to a nearby Target Supermarket, and we bought what we needed. It is so convenient that you know going to a supermarket you can buy a suitcase. And have options to choose from as well. We also took some bread home with us and drove back to the campground. We had still enough groceries to make sandwiches out of the bread we bought, finished our lunch and did the rest of the packing. All in all we survived the packing ritual without any real fights. No bloody noses or slamming of doors. And looking at the clock we also did it with time to spare.

The rest of the day we just took it easy, and fiddled around in our waggie.
